SFCCA 2025 Wrapped: A Look Back at Our Year

The South Four Corners Citizens Association (SFCCA) had an incredibly busy and productive 2025! We hosted numerous meetings, forums, and events, both virtually and in-person, to serve our community. This summary wraps up the highlights of the year, showcasing our collective engagement and accomplishments.

Engagement Snapshot: Total Activities

In 2025, the SFCCA organized, participated in, or sponsored a total of 68 activities for our community.

Meetings and Forums

Our core work involved various committee meetings, general meetings, and topical forums, allowing for deep discussion on community issues.

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings were the most frequent activity, totaling 34 sessions. This included a focus on:

  • Zoning, Land Use, Transportation committee meeting: 11 meetings
  • Executive committee meeting: 11 meetings
  • Public Safety committee meeting: 12 meetings

General Meetings and Forums

We held 5 general meetings to update the entire membership. Additionally, we used topical forums for specialized discussions and Q&A sessions:

  • Topical Forums: 17 open discussions and focused Q&A sessions, including a “Virtual Q&A with public safety officer” on 6/6/2025.
  • General Meetings: Held on 1/21/2025, 3/18/2025, 5/20/2025, 9/16/2025, and 11/18/2025.

Accomplishment Highlight: Successful Virtual Voting

A major milestone in 2025 was the successful implementation of virtual voting. This achievement followed a crucial vote to update our bylaws.

On 1/21/2025, at the SFCCA general meeting, members voted to update the bylaws to allow virtual voting. This change immediately allowed us to conduct important business more accessibly.

Following the bylaws amendment, we successfully held two virtual votes:

  1. 1/22/2025: Virtual Vote – UBCP resolution
  2. 6/10/2025: Virtual Vote – SFCCA budget

These virtual votes ensure that more members can participate in key decisions, marking a successful step toward greater accessibility.

University Boulevard Corridor Plan (UBCP) Resolution: Enabling Our Voice

The successful virtual vote on the UBCP resolution on 1/22/2025 was a key step that immediately empowered the SFCCA to represent our community’s views. The passage of this resolution allowed the Association to formally testify with the SFCCA’s official position on the UBCP in front of both the Planning Department and the Montgomery County Council, ensuring that our Assocation’s perspective was formally included in the official record and decision-making process.

Community Events

We loved seeing everyone in person at our planned, sponsored, and in-community events! These in-person activities strengthened our neighborhood bonds.
